Moving Forward

What is it?

Moving Forward is a one-day program that supports students living with disabilities by:

  • helping you navigate academic accommodations at the post-secondary level
  • introducing you to online, hybrid, and in-person learning, lectures and note-taking
  • giving you strategies for managing life in and out of the classroom (including tips for virtual and hybrid learning)
  • teaching you university-level academic learning strategies and skills
  • connecting you with a community of peers and Accessibility Services staff
  • helping you transition to the next stage of your academic career

This program is offered several times throughout the summer. You can find the exact dates below, as well as on the blog Calendar.

Who is eligible?

For undergraduate and graduate students entering first year at any post-secondary institution in Canada who identify as living with a disability. Incoming students to University of Toronto St. George, Mississauga, and Scarborough are all welcome to attend!

Moving Forward offers general programming for students at any study level, and specific programming for:

  • incoming students on the Autism Spectrum
  • incoming students who are international/living outside of Ontario

Where can I register?

You can register through CLNx using the links below. All events are for students who self-identify as having disabilities, e.g. learning disability, mental health-related, ADHD, mobility disability or another accessibility need.

Access Us Peer Mentorship Program

What is it?

The Access Us Peer Mentorship Program pairs you with a peer mentor and gives you access to a supportive community that includes

  • mentorship by an upper-year student (3rd and 4th year or graduate)
  • social events throughout the semester
  • academic workshops led by a learning strategist or other professionals (e.g. time management, exam preparation, effective note-taking, etc.)
  • leadership, professional and career development opportunities

Who is eligible?

Students who are new to Accessibilty Services or new to U of T.

Registrations will open early August.


ASD Peer Connections for Women & Trans Student

What is it?

This program provides women and trans students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) an informal space to connect and discuss topics relevant to their disability and identity.

Summer sessions run every other Monday from 10 – 11 a.m. from May 8 until August 18.

Who is eligible?

All women and trans students who self-identify as having Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). No formal diagnosis is required.

ADHD Peer Connections

The following information is taken from U of T Accessibility Services – ASD Peer Connections. Please visit the website for more details.

What is it?

ADHD Peer Connections provides a space to connect with other students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Find community, share strategies to build resilience and be yourself!

In each 60-minute session, you will have opportunities to share experiences about living with ADHD in a group setting and listen in on discussions.

ADHD Peer Connections will run every other Thursday from 4 – 5 p.m. during the summer 2023 semester.

Who is eligible?
